The article analyzes the modifications in the composition of the European Parliament introduced by the Lisbon Treaty, the technical difficulties produced by the entry into force of the Treaty after the European elections of 2009 and the solution that was adopted by the Member States to adopt a Protocol to the EU treaties in order to anticipate the increase of the composition of the European Parliament in 2011 instead of waiting for the next general elections in 2014.en
