The EUI Theses community contains theses defended by EUI members. There are PhD theses for ECO, HEC, LAW and SPS departments; LLM Theses for LAW; and Master Theses and Capstone Reports for STG. EUI theses are assessed for the award of doctoral or master degrees at the EUI. EUI theses published under the EUI imprint are deposited in Cadmus according to the EUI Academic Rules and Regulations in immediate Open Access or under Embargoed Access.

All EUI theses are accessible on the EUI campus. To be able to access embargoed or restricted theses outside campus, external readers can make a request of the print version through the EUI Library catalogue

More than 40% of EUI theses are available in Open Access:

Selected collection: EUI Open Access Theses

All authors of EUI theses may opt for the Open Access availability of their thesis by contacting cadmus@eui.eu and give their authorisation to make the thesis Open Access at any time.

Since 2007, EUI theses are ‘born’ digital, and since 2014 systematically uploaded in Cadmus, either under Open or Embargoed access. Theses defended before (between 1979 and 2013) are uploaded under Restricted Access from the Library electronic archive of EUI PhD theses (digitised between 2013 and 2017).
