Abstract
This chapter discusses how international migration has been evolving in recent years and how globalization has changed too. It explores the connections between migration and globalization and puts forward a critical approach arguing that we need to de-centre the way we understand and study international migration. The notion of de-centring points to the multiple processes and perspectives of different actors in different world regions and argues for the need to re-centre them, shedding a West-centric perspective. The chapter concludes with an outline of the contents of this volume.
