Abstract
Three hundred years ago, the industrial revolution set stage for one of the greatest economic and social transitions in human history. Today, we face a new transition, one that rewrites the goals of humanity to not just economic and human development, but ecological survival. The sustainable transition is a key conversion enabling great economical possibilities for national and regional bodies. From this, emerges the European Union, the political and economic regional union hoping to pioneer and lead this transition. But what good can a transition bring if two worlds - green Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and the European Investment Bank (EIB)- stretch it to break point? Through understanding the different narratives and bolts in the EIB’s green financing mechanism, this research aims at improving the implementation of the institution’s policies to lead a transition more effectively through the most catalyzing level of the European economy, SMEs.
