Abstract
Video contains a special in-person event held on 8 May at the Roman Theatre in Fiesole. This was achieved by bringing them into close contact with over 40 speakers, including representatives from European and local institutions, influencers and activists, and 20 musicians all of whom took to the stage to share their perspectives and enter into direct conversation with the public. In the final session of the day "Time to retreat?" 15 actors explored the role of Europe and its values through a tragicomedy on Europe today and its role in the world.

The 2021 edition of The State of the Union concluded on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 8 May with a special in-person event #SOU4YOU – Bringing the State of the Union Closer to Citizens dedicated to youth and civil society engagement. Organised by the European University Institute and co-funded by the European Union, the initiative aimed to inspire young people and European citizens to act as protagonists within the European democratic process. #SOU4YOU took place outside on the ancient steps and stage of the Roman Theatre in the charming setting of the Archaeological Area of Fiesole in full compliance with COVID-19 security protocol after 14 months of COVID-19 restrictions.
L’otto maggio 2021, The State of the Union ha ospitato la prima edizione di #SOU4YOU – The State of the Union più vicino ai cittadini un’iniziativa che si è svolta in presenza presso il Teatro Romano di Fiesole. Quasi 500 giovani studenti, rappresentanti di ONG e minoranze sono stati coinvolti in un dialogo con 95 personalità – rappresentanti di istituzioni pubbliche, influencer, attivisti, musicisti e attori – attraverso dibattiti, musica, teatro, quiz e molto altro. Oltre 2900 persone hanno potuto seguire l’evento in diretta streaming.
