Abstract
This paper explores the reception, perception, and implementation of cultural expertise within the court systems of Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. It uses both quantitative and qualitative data collected from 2018 to 2022 for the EURO-EXPERT project and is available on the CULTEXP database. Furthermore, this paper examines the potential of cultural expertise to enhance access to justice, promote fair proceedings, and foster inclusivity and diversity in judicial decision-making. It argues that while the full extent of the benefits of cultural expertise remains undiscovered and requires further examination, a more comprehensive understanding of this can be gained by exploring it in the context of Nordic Legal Pluralism.
