Abstract
The chapter studies the fate of the Alsatians who evaded forced conscription into the German Armed Forces by fleeing to Switzerland - mainly between 1942 and 1944. It sheds light on the Swiss administrative practices and the everyday experiences of the Alsatian conscription evaders in Switzerland. The contribution adds nuance to our understanding of the Swiss refugee policy during World War Two.
