Though populism is one of the most well-researched contemporary political phenomena, little attention has been paid to the aesthetics of populism. Reflection on how populist politics is reflected within literature, e.g. in poetry, is scarce. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap by an analysis of several examples of Polish literary works that manifest an aesthetics of populism. Following the framework elaborated by Johannes Voelz, an aesthetics of populism is understood as an aesthetics of polarization that is bound up with two sentiments: resentment and indignation. Both correspond to a struggle for social recognition and claim to represent a particular side of the polarized Polish society. Both groups, “us” and “them,” have their own authors who produce works in the aesthetics of populism.
