Abstract
European Solidarity is in great demand. In this session, Dietlind Stolle presents brand new results from the EUI-YouGov Solidarity Survey on the status of European solidarity across 18 European countries. Is the willingness to help other EU member states stable on the eve of the EP elections? We will look particularly at solidarity in the context of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. How has public support for aiding Ukraine developed over time? In which areas of Ukraine aid do we see sustained support, and which are more susceptible to decline? How divided is Europe on helping Ukraine and which emerging faultlines of support do we see across European countries? Is public support matching the aid committed by European governments? Finally, we look at the future of Ukraine, and what European think about the ideal end of the war and how Ukraine should be reconstructed.
