Dedicatorias a un buen príncipe y excelente pastor : una aproximación a mecenazgo eclesiástico en la España de los Austrias

Abstract

This paper aims at contributing to the understanding of the uses that the early modern ecclesiastical elites gave to cultural expressions. It will focus on the corpus of writings that were dedicated to cardinal Sandoval y Rojas as a first step in the process of clarifying his role as literary patron. The variety of roles and loyalties that this prelate embodied, the date and topic of the writings, the biographical sketch of the authors, together with their relationship with the prelate, are some of the issues that will be tackled.
