Abstract
Reviews the European Union's (EU's) efforts to encourage Turkey to fulfill the criteria for admission into the union, particularly in regard to the treatment of its non-Muslim minorities since 1998. The emphasis is on providing a descriptive and analytical overview of the European Commission's processes and reports of Turkey's compliance with the Copenhagen criteria regarding human rights and protections for minorities, as well as an overall assessment of Turkey's treatment of non-Muslims minorities.
