This chapter discusses how the Fair Competition Review System (FCRS) may influence the relationship between competition law and industrial policy in China. It is suggested that the adoption of the FCRS at the highest levels of government and its wide dissemination are positive developments. These developments may reflect genuine political will to respond meaningfully to the persistent obstacles to a single unified Chinese market and a socialist market economy organized on the principle of competition.
