This dataset estimates the authority of regional government in 95 countries (Europe, Americas, most of Asia including China, India, Pakistan) from 1950 through 2018. It covers metropolitan governance alongside regional governance. Scoring is annual and the unit of analysis is the individual region. Data are currently available in four aggregations: RAI-MLG provides annual scores for each region or regional tier in a country; RAI-Region provides annual scores for the most authoritative regional tier; RAI-Country provides annual scores for each country; RAI-Indigenous provides annual scores for indigenous governance.
