This book encompasses the Arabian stories of the famous French novelist Alexandre Dumas. The latter wrote an account of the Jeddah massacre of 1858, took from the mouth of its surviving French heroine. He also wrote the travelogue in the Red Sea, Hejaz and Yemen, of the French traveler Louis du Couret, the most detailed ever written by any European on these regions. It includes a biography of the Prophet Muhammad. These forgotten works form a leading document for understanding 19th Century Arabia, as well as hardly known pieces of the French orientalist writings at that time. The book includes numerous drawings and engravings of Arabia at the time of Dumas.en
