This Capstone Report sets out to provide an overview of the principles of child participation and their applicability for the work of the Global Survivors Fund. Recently, GSF acknowledged the need to expand the scope of its work to include child victims of CRSV. To that end, this document looks at the guiding principles and participation requirements provided in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, setting out the minimum requirements that will need to be adopted by the GSF. The discussion highlights the most probable challenges that GSF will encounter engaging with children and attempts to answer them where possible with existing standards and best practices. The capstone advocates for adapting the CRC requirements structure to GSF’s work adding a principle on ‘contextualization’ requiring to adapt working methods to specific contexts.
