For years, the European Union (EU) has been under considerable distress in the face of a poly-crisis. Brexit is a peculiar crisis event as, for the first time, a member state decided to withdraw from the EU entirely. We ask how, amidst this situation, the EU is likely to take shape in the near- and mid-future? In an endeavour to answer this question, we set out to discuss and analyze potential scenarios for EU integration. Given member states' preferences and demanding institutional rules for new treaty provisions, we argue that differentiated integration and covert integration, but also a continued enlargement - albeit rather a >bespoke enlargements< varying by country and sector-, are the most likely scenarios for post-Brexit EU politics.
