This contribution was delivered on the occasion of the EUI State of the Union in Florence on 09 May 2013
It has been five years since the crisis began and it is unlikely that it will end any time soon. It started as purely nancial, transformed into a political, social and the most dicult to solve – a debt crisis – a crisis of trust and condence. The complexity of this crisis makes it unique in our most recent history. ere is no simple solution; there is no ready-to-use recipe. We need to nd the answers on the move with limited time and resources. We are acting as politicians, but we must also act as crisis managers.
