dc.description.abstractGiven their nature as legal subjects protected by special fundamental rights' guarantees, churches and religious associations enjoy a particular status under the General Data Protection Regulation. Member States' law largely takes precedence in this field within the broader limits set by the GDPR. This article looks at how the rules apply and are being adhered to by the biggest Islamic Organisations in Germany, which struggle to be recognized as religious communities.en
