Database on return migrants (DReM)

Abstract

The Database on Return Migrants (DReM) provides comparable observations on returnees' patterns of reintegration in their countries of origin, based on approximately 2,000 interviews. The database covers background indicators, situation in the country of origin before emigration, experience in the main country of immigration, and return to country of origin.The database on return migrants (DReM) is the consolidated version of two large scale field surveys carried out in Algeria, Armenia, Mali, Morocco and Tunisia. Field data were collected in the framework of two research projects conducted at the European University Institute. The first, the MIREM project (Migration de Retour au Maghreb) was funded by the European Union from 2005 to 2008. The second, the CRIS project (Cross-Regional Information System on the reintegration of migrants) was funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC, Bern), from 2011 to 2014.
